Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Sanskrit (Hons.) is a four-year regular graduate programme in Sanskrit language that one can pursue after completing 10+2 or equivalent level education. It is an Under Graduate (UG) program that is offered by various colleges and universities across the country. Most of the colleges and universities offer admission to this course based on merit.
\nThe merit determining criteria for the course is class 12th \u00a0board percentage or equivalent educational qualification obtained by the candidate. Sanskrit is the most interesting and scientific language in the world. Sanskrit studies help in revitalizing India\u2019s morality. It helps students to make scientific insights and research related to positive science in our ancient literature. The Rigveda is the lifeblood of Indian culture and tradition of Sanskrit literature. Indian culture and traditions are only in Sanskrit language. It is a repository of all kinds of knowledge, which is very useful in maintaining a healthy and stress-free life in the society. The culture of Sanskrit is a culture of synthesis and assimilation. The study of Sanskrit language and the study of Sanskrit literature are both balanced and effectively maintained. The department also provides instruction in Vedas, Upanishads and related scriptures. Brilliant teacher over the years have inspired our young generation to maintain the spirit of study.<\/p>\n

Aims of the Undergraduate Programme in Sanskrit<\/strong>
\nThe Objectives of the Undergraduate Programme in Sanskrit are:<\/p>\n

  • To inspire students to learn the most ancient language of India.<\/li>\n
  • To inspire students to gather knowledge from Sanskrit Literature on Indian Culture and Tradition.<\/li>\n
  • To introduce students about the multidisciplinary dimensions of Sanskrit studies.<\/li>\n
  • To explore Sanskrit literature in the perspective of scientific and humanistic study.<\/li>\n
  • To Inculcate the ethical and Moral values by developing a strong sense of ethical and moral appropriateness.<\/li>\n
  • To create an environment of teaching language to acquire the language skills assessed by their conversation and usage of the language.<\/li>\n
  • To introduce ICT tools for learning and educating Sanskrit to other aspirants.<\/li>\n
