Student council

Student council plays a vital role in developing, promoting of student activities, improving quality of student’s life and fostering greater interaction with the students and well-being of the students. Student Council exists to represent the voice of the students, promote their ideas
and advocate their views and interests. It Provides aid to the students, the institution and the community.
Student council provides a representative structure through the students involve in the affairs of the college, social activities, community opportunities, leadership, scholarship, human relations and promotes civic responsibility.
The council acts as a mediator to share students’ ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers. In addition, it plays a major role in raising fund for the conduction of Annual Cultural, Literary and Sports event. Further, all the functions of the institution in a particular year are being organized by the Student Council.

Objectives

  • The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.

  • To provide a platform where the students can showcase their talent without hesitation
  • The student council is responsible for the fluid and graceful functioning of Student
    and College organized events.

Responsibilities of the Student Council

  • To promote the interests of students among the Institute administration, staff and parents.
  • To inform students about any subject that concerns them
  • To identify and help solve problems encountered by students in the Institute.
  • To consult students on any issue of importance.
  • To organize educational and recreational activities for students.
  • To participate in developing the Institute’s educational projects and to promote it to students
  • To organize an activity to recognize the efforts of students involved in organizing Institute activities.
  • To propose activities to the Institute administration that would improve the quality of life in the Institute.
  • To maintain good relations, out of mutual respect, with the Institute staff (the Director,teaching and non-teaching personnel) and parents

The Student Council and the Principal

The role of the Principal is of central importance in the establishment and operation of a Student Council. In Assisting the Management in the development of college policy, and in working with teachers and to implement it at the day-to-day level, the principal is centrally placed in all aspects of the college’s operations. In the initial stages, the Principal, together with the other teachers, will assist in the development of a Student Council in several ways, for example, by discussing with students the role of a Student Council and the role of individual representatives on the Council and by advising on an appropriate constitution or statement of objectives. As the Council develops and begins to expand its role, the Principal will assist in guiding the Council’s development, so as to allow for a constructive and purposeful Council.
More generally, the Principal can promote a college culture which recognises the potentially valuable input that students can make, through a Student Council, into the development of the college.

The Student Council and Teachers

Development a spirit of partnership and co-operation between a Student Council and teachers has benefits for both. The Student Council can play an important role in recognising and supporting the work of teachers. Similarly, the interest and support of teachers will be of great value to a Student Council, particularly during the early stages of its development.
It is generally desirable for a member of the teaching staff to attend the meeting of the Council. The support and guidance offered by a teacher will be very useful to a Council when planning its activities, and providing for a teacher to attend Council meetings will help to build a co- operative and good working relationship between students and staff of the college.

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)

Many consider teaching to be one of the noblest professions in India. In order to enter into a teaching profession at the school level, it is necessary to have a B.Ed. course. The B.Ed. syllabus is designed to help the candidates not only gain knowledge about the different teaching methods but also gain the other soft skills such as counseling to understand the psyche of the students. The course also helps in development of a better academic system at the grassroot level. It makes the aspirants skilled in the principles of teaching and learning. It improves the candidates’ soft skills and helps them improve their communication skills so that they can understand the individual demand of the students and guide them properly.
The B. Ed course duration is of two years. It’s important to understand that B. Ed or Bachelor of Education is not an undergraduate degree and to pursue this course one needs to have completed his/her graduation. Thus, B Ed is a professional course and right after completing this course, students can get a job at the school level. B Ed course is an important criterion to fulfil, for the aspirants who are looking forward to get teaching jobs. B Ed syllabus primarily covers topics such as teaching methodologies, educational psychology, educational technology, curriculum development, and classroom management.
A candidate seeking admission to 2-year B.Ed. course has to qualify at the B.E d. course has to qualify at the B.Ed. Common Entrance Test conducted by the State Government for the respective academy year. The candidates will be admitted strictly in accordance with the rank secure in the entrance examination, keeping in view the rules and regulations in force in respect of statutory reservation of seat to different categories of students
